REDS Instructors taught a two-weekend Wilderness Rescue Technician course that took place both at Nash Community College near Rocky Mount and at Medoc Mountain State Park. In addition to covering the basics of Wilderness Survival, navigation, and tracking, a number of subjects such as ATV safety, trapping small game, and rigging were addressed. Practical exercises also included a night spent in primitive conditions using a minimum of gear.
Nash County Community College and the Department of Insurance sponsored the course. A special thanks goes to the staff at Medoc Mountain State Park for providing an excellent facility for training.
